Ten selected village libraries in Vietnam have received nearly 10,000 book titles and three newspapers from a project financed by the US ’s Library Education Assistance Foundation for Vietnam (LEAF-VN) through the Vietnam National Library.

The statistics were released at a review meeting of the three-year project entitled “ Vietnam Village Library Collection Development 2006-2009” in Hanoi on November 23.

The books and newspapers, worth a total of 300 million VND, cover a wide range of fields from science-technology, policy-law, literature and arts to children’s books.

The libraries have also launched a series of activities to encourage villagers’ interest in books, helping improve the number of readers./.
