The Social Marketing HIV Prevention Project on March 21 launched a revitalised Number One Plus condom and lubricant pack.
The project is being run by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). The combo pack, which has two water-based lubricant sachets and two condoms, is being re-introduced with improved packaging to better serve the needs of men who have sex with men (MTM) and other at-risk populations.
Nguyen Thi Hue, head of HCM City AIDS Committee's Harm Reduction Department, said that HIV infection rate among MTM men was 15-16 percent and on the rise.
The usage rate of lubricant and condoms among this group is at below 40 percent, making them one of the most at-risk groups for HIV/AIDS intervention programmes in the city, Hue said. -VNA
