The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) needs to focus on strengthening its organisational system and staff at all levels, and expanding movements, thus promoting the strength of the great national unity to fulfill the country’s development targets, said President Truong Tan Sang.

Addressing a conference in Hanoi on October 17, which was to honour 260 outstanding presidents of VFF chapters in communes, wards and towns in 2010-2015, the State leader affirmed the Party, State and people always highly appreciated the role played by the VFF in national construction and defence.

He praised the delegates for their service to front works, saying that with tireless efforts, they significantly contributed to national construction and defence, preserving and upholding the nation’s cultural identity, protecting the environment, building strong grassroots political systems, promoting democracy and improving spiritual and material life of the people.

He said all-level authorities should pay attention to creating favourable conditions for and work closely with the VFF to thoroughly solve difficulties, meeting the people’s aspiration.

He expressed his hope that from the conference, the outstanding examples will be expanded nationwide, and patriotic emulation movements will be stronger in community, becoming a crucial motivation in implementing the nation’s goals.

While launching emulation movements within the VFF, President of VFF Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan underlined the important role of VFF Presidents at commune, ward and town levels, asking the VFF and its chapters to further improve efficiency of their activities in the time ahead.

The VFF committees at the commune level in general and the presidents of the VFF at commune, ward and town levels in particular should concentrate on strengthening the great national unity and diversifying approaches to carry out movements to match with the real situation in each locality, he said.-VNA
