Vietnam achieved good results in improving education effectiveness in quite a short time, according to a World Bank Vietnam report.
The report on raising the quality of education for all by 2020 in Vietnam , which was released in Hanoi on April 20, provides deep analysis on the effectiveness of the country’s primary and secondary education.
Addressing the ceremony, Keiko Sato, WB Portfolio and Operations Manager, said she expects that the report will provide more foundations for the country to implement its socio-economic development strategy in the 2011-2020 period and education strategy in the 2011-2020 period.
According to WB, the rate of literacy and attendance is quite high compared with other regional countries and the group of countries of the same income level.
However, Vietnam is facing challenges in narrowing the gap in accessing learning opportunities between different groups of people, as well as improving learning and teaching quality.
To deal with the difficulties, Vietnam needs to give priority in public budget provision to the education sector and improve the effectiveness of expenditure and school management quality.
According to WB lead economist Emanuela di Gropello, one of the main writers of the report, reform is of great importance that meets people’s requirements on higher quality education and will help to build sustainable foundations for human development when Vietnam is a middle-income country.-VNA
