The meeting, whichdrew the participation of 245 delegates from 17 regional countries,discussed a wide range of issues regarding security, politics,economics, trade, regional cooperation and plans to renovate APPFoperations in the future.
Son delivered a speech at aplenary session of the meeting, giving assessments on the region’spolitical and economic situation and emphasising the regional andinternational role of the APPF.
The Vietnamesedelegation put forth two proposals on the implementation of theMillennium Development Goals (MDGs) and climate change response thatwere adopted by the meeting.
During discussions, thedelegation stressed new opportunities and challenges for the region aswell as attached importance to the regional and internationalcoordination, renovation of the APPF’s operation and coordinationbetween the APPF and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum,the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the ASEANInter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
Vietnam’scontributions to building a region of peace, stability, cooperation andprosperous development were applauded by international friends.
During its stay in Mongolia, the Vietnamese delegation met withParliament Chairperson and Prime Minister of the host country, and hadbilateral meetings with the delegations of Mongolia, Laos, Cambodia, China, Russia, Japan and Canada. /.
