Sang’s attendance aims to speed up the implementation of Vietnam’s foreign policy and continue promoting the country’s role in APECthrough its active contributions to APEC’s cooperation and the majorcontents of this meeting.
Vietnam will alsotake the advantage of APEC cooperation programmes to stabilise the macroeconomy, boosting the economic restructuring and maintaining areasonable growth rate as well as strengthening cooperation and gainingAPEC’s support for its security and development issues.
Thecountry has been interested in APEC’s cooperation contents onstrengthening regional economic connectivity, boosting creative growth,ensuring food and water resources security and coping with naturaldisasters, especially when it is working hard on economic restructuringand growth model shift in a sustainable manner.
Since itjoined APEC in 1998, Vietnam has always been an active, dynamic andresponsible member of the forum, proactively promoting APEC cooperationin various fields.
The country also successfullyhosted more than 70 initiatives and activities in such areas as trade,investment, technical cooperation, health, emergency preparedness andanti-terrorism.
It successfully organised the 14th APEC Leaders’ Meeting and the 18 th Foreign-Economic MinisterialMeeting in November 2006, the APEC Business Summit, six ministerialmeetings, three senior officials’ meetings and hundreds of groupmeetings.
Vietnam has made active andproactive contributions to the operations of working groups and thebuilding of APEC’s strategies and action plans in all fields. Thecountry has seriously implemented APEC’s commitments and proactivelyproposed many initiatives. It served as Vice Chair of the APEC HealthWorking Group in the 2009-2010 term.-VNA
