Sydney (VNA) – VietnamAirlines on December 2 officially launched new-generation Boeing 787-9Dreamliner on its flights between Vietnam and Australia’s Sydney.

The aircraft will be used for flights between Vietnam and Melbourne fromDecember 5.

This is a highlight eventof the national flag carrier to mark the 20th anniversary of thedirect air route between Vietnam and Australia, constituting its efforts to providefour-star services to customers, especially Overseas Vietnamese in the country.

According to Tran NgocHung, head of the Vietnam Airlines Representative Office in Australia and NewZealand, the airline is operating direct flights between Sydney and Melbourne andHo Chi Minh City, which account for about 70 percent of passengers on theroute.

The flights aim to servethe Vietnamese community in Australia,mostly in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as an increasing number of visitorsfrom the country to Vietnamand other countries in the region, said Hung.

Vietnam Airlines is alsoseeking measures to serve more passengers who transit in Australia to othercountries, especially to the UK, France and Japan, added Hung.

Vietnam Airlines is thefirst one in the Asia-Pacific region that uses Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner andAirbus A350-900 XWB, the most modern generation aircraft in the world so fat.

Dreamliner is a supereffective commercial airplane with optimal speed. It helps save 2-25 percent offuel, while reducing 20-25 percent of emission compared to other types.

Vietnam Airlines has booked19 dreamliner aircraft, which were scheduled for delivery between 2015 and2019. So far, the fleet of Boeing 787s of Vietnam Airlines has flown 7,600flights with more than 35,500 flying hours, transporting 1.79 millionpassengers.-VNA

HCM City to use municipal budget for Metro Line No. 2 project

The Metro Line No. 2 project has an estimated investment of nearly 47.9 trillion VND (2 billion USD) and has nearly completed land clearance, at 99.8%. The NA’s Resolution 188 authorises HCM City to develop seven metro lines spanning 355 kilometres over the next decade, with preliminary total investment for the 2025-2035 phase estimated at 40.2 billion USD.
