The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a federal-state consisting of seven independent city-states, notably Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

It has been 26 years since Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates established diplomatic relations on August 1st, 1993. Since then, this bilateral cooperation has resulted in significant progress.

The UAE has become one of Vietnam's leading trading partners in the Middle East with bilateral trade turnover in the past few years reaching over 6 billions USD and it is expected to reach $10 billion by 2020.

By June 2019, UAE had 120 investment projects in Vietnam, with a total registered capital of more than $50 million.

Labor export is also a promising area of cooperation between the two countries. There are about 5,000 Vietnamese currently working in the UAE. The direct flight route opened between Ho Chi Minh City and Dubai in 2012 and with Abu Dhabi in 2013 was an important step that contributes to strengthening and developing the friendship and multifaceted cooperation, as well as cultural exchanges between the two nations.

With the existing cooperative potential, along with the efforts from both sides, the continuous building of friendship, economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE will become even more dynamic and effective for the mutual benefits of their people./.
