Jakarta (VNA) – A Vietnamese delegation is attending theGlobal Dialogue CSIS 2019 which opened in Indonesia’scapital city Jakarta on September 16.

Head of the Vietnamese delegation Ambassador Nguyen Nguyet Nga said thetheme of the event, Harnessing Frontier Technologies: Redesigning National, Regionaland Global Architecture, is very relevant in the context of the booming FourthIndustrial Revolution and digital technology in the region and the world.

Nga, who is Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam National Committee forPacific Economic Cooperation (VNCPEC), said the Vietnamese delegation isattending the event to express the country's interest in optimizing advanced technologiesfor national development.

Vietnamese delegates will also take the occasion to discuss with the Pacific EconomicCooperation Council (PECC) and its members issues of common concern in preparation forVietnam’s chair of the ASEAN in 2020 and non-permanent membership in the UNSecurity Council in the 2020-2021 tenure, Nga said.

She added that the delegation is scheduled to hold sidelines meetings onspecific issues with politicians, research centres and agencies of the hostcountry to strengthen the Vietnam-Indonesia friendship, particularly when thetwo countries are organizing many activities to mark the 60th anniversary of the visits of President Ho Chi Minh and President Sukarno in2019, and the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship in2020.

Vietnam, India enhance defence cooperation
