A Vietnamese delegation attended a conference held by the Partnership for Democratic Local Governance in Southeast Asia (DELGOSEA) network in Bangkok, Thailand on January 15 and 16.
Attracting more than 70 Government officials, academia and media representatives and DELGOSEA members from 10 ASEAN states, the conference aimed to implement the spirit of the ASEAN Charter in order to promote people’s interests through governing the State by laws towards the establishment of an ASEAN Community by 2015.
DELGOSEA is a cooperation network to strengthen local governance in Southeast Asia. The network is coordinating with ASEAN member countries to conduct a local governance project that began in 2010.
The Vietnamese delegation’s head, Vu Thi Vinh, who is Secretary General of the Association of Cities of Vietnam, said that the association has made contributions to the network over the past years.
At the conference, the association shared its practical experience in urban work and contributed to the Bangkok Statement in order to spread good lessons learnt from governance in ASEAN states.-VNA
