Vietnam, Bangladesh to work in UN peacekeeping operations

The army of Bangladesh and Vietnam can share experience and work together in various fields, especially in United Nations peacekeeping operations and natural disaster prevention and relief, said a Bangladeshi diplomat.

Hanoi (VNA) – The army of Bangladesh andVietnam can share experience and work together in various fields, especially inUnited Nations peacekeeping operations and natural disaster prevention andrelief, said a Bangladeshi diplomat.

Bangladeshi Ambassador to Vietnam Samina Naz met with Chiefof the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence MinisterSenior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang in Hanoi on May 31.

The diplomat said that the people of Bangladesh always admire the victory ofVietnamese people, with immense contributions by the Vietnam People’s Army, intheir struggle for national liberation.

Samina Naz affirmed that he will work hard for thegrowth of the Vietnam-Bangladesh relations as well as bilateral defencecooperation.

He also conveyed Principal Staff Officer Lieut. Gen.Mahfuzur Rahman’s invitation to visit Bangladesh to Giang who accepted it withpleasure.

For his part, Giang stated that the Vietnamese peoplealways keep in their mind warm sentiments and helpful support given by theBangladeshi people in the past and present.

He stressed that the Defence Ministry of Vietnamalways welcomes Bangladeshi officers who come to study Vietnamese and othertraining at the Vietnam Academy of Defence.

He said he hopes the Bangladeshi ambassador will makecontributions to the development of the Vietnam-Bangladesh partnership,especially in defence. -VNA
