Vietnam, Bulgaria agree on new economic model

President Truong Tan Sang and his Bulgarian counterpart Rosen Plevneliev agreed on a new economic cooperation model that looks to transform the two countries’ relationship into a strategic partnership.
President Truong Tan Sang and his Bulgarian counterpart Rosen Plevnelievdiscussed and agreed on a new economic cooperation model that looks totransform the two countries’ relationship into a strategic partnershipin the future during their talks in the capital city Hanoi on October28.

In the new economic cooperation model,there is a suggestion about Vietnamese exported products being processedin Bulgaria’s ports and then being sold in European markets tosignificantly increase trade and economic ties between the twocountries.

The Presidents agreed to createfavourable conditions for the two countries’ businesses and investors toseek partners and study each other’s market, particularly in thespheres that Bulgaria holds advantages and Vietnam has demand, such asconstruction, urban and public transport system planning anddevelopment, energy, environmental protection, food processing and watersource management.

Both leaders expressed theirdelight at the close and effective coordination between the two nationsat international forums and agreed to continue strengtheningcooperation in this area. The Bulgarian President affirmed that hiscountry backs the settlement of all disputes between nations by peacefulmeans and in accordance with international law.

President Sang described the Bulgarian President’s official visit toVietnam, which started the same day, as an important milestone inpromoting the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperationbetween Vietnam and Bulgaria in the new period.

He affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to consolidating anddeveloping that friendship and cooperation with Bulgaria while pursuingits external policy of independence, self-control, diversification andmultilateralisation, and active international and regional integration.

He expressed his delight at the achievements theBulgarian people have gained during their socio-economic developmentprocess and deep and wide integration into the European Unionstructures.

He added that these achievements,with Vietnam’s dynamic economic development and increasingly active rolein the region and the world, will be an important premise for the twocountries to continue boosting bilateral and multilateral cooperation inmany fields.

The Vietnamese leader also thankedBulgaria for creating favourable conditions for overseas Vietnamese tolive in the country, saying that he believes the Vietnamese communitywill continue promoting their role as a bridge to further develop thetwo countries’ friendship and cooperation.

Forhis part, President Plevneliev spoke highly of the significantachievements gained by Vietnam in its renovation, and said that Vietnamis and will always be an important factor for regional peace andstability with a deserving position in the international community.

He affirmed that Bulgaria wants to lift the traditional friendshipand multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam to a new height.

During the talks, the two leaders discussed and agreed on specificmeasures to boost cooperation in many fields, especially ineconomics-trade, education-training, culture-tourism andsecurity-defence. They also exchanged views on regional andinternational issues of mutual concern.

Afterthe talks, the two leaders passed a joint statement between Vietnam andBulgaria and a new economic cooperation model.

They also witnessed the signings of several bilateral cooperativedocuments, including a memorandum of understanding between the VietnamAcademy of Science and Technology and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciencesand the one on information exchange between the Vietnam News Agency andthe Bulgaria News Agency.

They then met the media to announce the outcomes of the talks.-VNA

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
