Vietnam, Cambodia increase anti-crime cooperation

Vietnam and Cambodia have agreed to step up collaboration in the fight against crimes, especially those in their border areas.

Thetwo sides reached the consensus during a recent meeting in Phnom Penhbetween a visiting delegation from Vietnam’s General PoliceDepartment for Crime Prevention and Control led by its Deputy DirectorGeneral Nguyen Phi Hung and Commissioner General Neth Savoeun of theCambodia National Police.

They informed each other of theirrespective crime prevention and shared experience in suppressing allkinds of crime, particularly drug and human trafficking.

Theyalso agreed to accelerate the setting up of permanent working groups totimely update each other on the criminal situation so as to increase theefficiency of joint crackdowns.

The Cambodian side suggested aquarterly exchange of delegations to further share prevention measuresand other crime-related issues.

Over the past years, theVietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Cambodian Ministry ofInterior has reinforced collaboration in cross-border crime prevention,helping guarantee security and order along the shared borderline.-VNA

Foreign policy contributes to propelling Vietnam into new era

2024 saw Vietnam significantly expanding its diplomatic activities with numerous partners and at various important multilateral forums and mechanisms. The country’s key leaders conducted a total of 60 external activities, including paying 21 visits to foreign countries and attend major multilateral conferences, as well as hosting 25 delegations of foreign leaders to Vietnam.
