Party General Secretary To Lam warmly welcomed the OV representatives returning from many countries and territories to celebrate the Lunar New Year (Tet).
The programme enables OVs to meet Party and State leaders, update themselves on national development orientations and share ideas and proposals in science and technology, innovation, investment, education and promoting Vietnam’s image abroad. It also serves as a platform connecting the diaspora with ministries, sectors and localities to advance cooperation, knowledge transfer and international linkages, Hang told the Vietnam News Agency.
According to Dr. Neak Chandarith, the outcomes of the 14th Party Congress signal that in a new era of development for Vietnam and the region, the two countries need to further strengthen their traditional friendship and close solidarity under the motto “solidarity, democracy, discipline, progress and development.” The visit, he stressed, reflects a high degree of political trust.
He called on the intelligence force to pursue strong innovation in thinking and organisation, enhance strategic vision and stay one step ahead as the country enters a new phase of development.
The visits are expected to help meet the ambitious development goals of each country in the new context, serve the interests of the three peoples, and make a positive contribution to peace, stability, prosperity and development in the region and the world, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung.
The Steering Committee is tasked with providing orientations for formulating a national development and defence platform in the new era of development, reporting to the 14th Party Central Committee and its Politburo for submission to the 15th National Party Congress.
Participants listened to an important address by Party General Secretary To Lam, who outlined orientations, tasks and requirements for the Resolution implementation to turn it into action, action into results, and results into tangible improvements in people’s lives.
Organisational and personnel weaknesses must not be allowed to slow national progress, the Party General Secretary said, noting that time is a vital and non-renewable development resource, and delays in implementation risk wasting resources and missing opportunities for development.
The Congress added the perspectives of strategic autonomy and self-strengthening, and affirmed foreign affairs and international integration as a “key and regular” task, said Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung.
Minister of Public Security Gen. Luong Tam Quang said that amid increasingly complex domestic and international challenges to national construction and defence, the 14th Congress for the first time formally established the concept of comprehensive security, giving security an important role across all areas of national development.
The 14th National Party Congress thoroughly discussed and made decisions on strategic orientations for national defence based on a renewed mindset and perceptions, said Defence Minister Gen. Phan Van Giang.
The overall goal is to successfully achieve the target of becoming a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030, and to realise the vision of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045, according to Chairman of the Commission for Policies and Strategies Nguyen Thanh Nghi.
Elaborating the special significance of the 14th National Party Congress, Trinh Van Quyet underscored that the event marked a development turning point, shaping a new development mindset and establishing a depth and quality-based growth model driven by science – technology, innovation, and knowledge, to replace the capital-, resource- and low-cost labour-based growth model.
The 14th Party Congress determined that the Party Statutes, along with the Political Platform for national construction during the transitional period to socialism, will be supplemented and amended at the 15th National Party Congress, which coincides with the 100th founding anniversary of the Party.
The two sides agreed to continue efforts toward concluding negotiations on and signing the reciprocal trade agreement, thereby creating a stepping stone for more sustainable and effective economic and trade ties for the benefit of businesses and peoples of both countries.
The diplomat said it was his honour to be appointed Ambassador of Vietnam to France and thanked the French ministry for the cordial reception and the goodwill demonstrated in accepting the credentials upon his arrival in Paris.
Nguyen Hong Lai, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tra Tan commune, said the committee has drawn up a plan to disseminate and implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, aiming to ensure that all local officials and Party members fully grasp the spirit of the Resolution and promptly work to translate it into practical results.
The Government leader emphasised the special significance of the action plan, noting that it represents an innovative approach that is both strategic and comprehensive while also concrete, practical, time-saving and feasible, helping the Resolution to be swiftly implemented in reality and generate fruitful outcomes across all fields so that the people can soon benefit from the achievements of the 14th National Party Congress.
Through 10 topics, the conference focuses on the key contents and new points in the documents of the 14th National Party Congress.
The state visit to Cambodia by General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam is believed not only to contribute to the solid political foundation for Vietnam – Cambodia relations, but also to create new impetus for comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and two countries, as well as among the Parties and countries of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.
