Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang and Meng Jianzhu, head of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (CPCCC)’s Commission for Political and Legal Affairs, had a meeting on security cooperation in Beijing on October 26.

Joining Meng Jianzhu, a CPCCC’s Politburo member, at the function were Chinese State Councillor and Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun and Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jianchao along with other senior Chinese officials.

Minister Tran Dai Quang, who is also a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Political Bureau, said Vietnam always treasures the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with China and wishes their all-embracing partnership will unceasingly develop for the interests of the two peoples.

The collaboration between the two ministries of public security has reaped encouraging results, contributing greatly to ensuring security and social order and safety in each nation as well as bilateral relations, he added.

He noted that regional and international complicated situations and developmental opportunities and challenges in Vietnam and China require the two countries’ law enforcement bodies to do more in the fight against crimes to guarantee the political stability and security and order.

Minister Quang also asked Meng to facilitate the result-orientated affiliation between the two ministries, thus meeting the peoples’ aspirations and benefits and helping safeguard the regional and international peace, stability and development.

Hailing the Vietnamese side’s visit as an important contribution to bilateral ties, particularly in security cooperation, Meng stressed that China always wishes to reinforce its friendship and partnership with Vietnam.

He thanked Vietnamese public security agencies for their close collaboration with Chinese counterparts, especially those in border areas, in countering terrorism, drug and human trafficking, high-tech frauds and other kinds of organised crimes.

He pledged maximum efforts to be taken to continue nurturing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Earlier the same day, Minister Quang and his Chinese counterpart Guo Shengkun co-chaired the fourth conference on cooperation in crime prevention and control between the two ministries, which is held on a rotational basis biennially.

This year’s event was aimed to review the anti-crime cooperation and draw up orientations for further affiliation in the future.-VNA
