Vietnamese PrimeMinister Nguyen Tan Dung delivered this message at the ongoing Nuclear SecuritySummit in the US, which brought together the heads of 47 nations, the UN, theInternational Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the European Union (EU).
PM Dung said that Vietnamese law sets out regulations on ensuringnuclear safety and security and prohibits the illegal trading of materials thatare used to produce weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons.
Vietnam, he said, has already drawn up an action plan and has taken awide range of measures to accomplish these targets, adding that Vietnam activelyjoins in international conventions and participates in counter-terrorismactivities both bilaterally and multilaterally.
To enhance theefficiency of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, theVietnamese leader urged the international community to lend more support tonations that need to deploy measures to combat terrorism, ensure nuclearsecurity and implement previously agreed international treaties./.
