Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam beat Brunei 9-0 in the first match of Group B of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on November 5.
Vietnam dominated the match from the opening whistle and Chu Van Tien opened the scoring for the Vietnamese side at the first minute.
Minutes later, Quoc Hung doubled the score for Vietnam. Before the first half closed, Vietnam scored the third goal.
After the break, Vietnam continued to heap the pressure on, scoring four more goals and maintain a clean sheet to win 9-0.
Among many glittering performances, Thanh Tin stood out with a hat-trick.
With this win, Vietnam rank second in Group B, behind Thailand who crushed Timor Leste 14-0.
Vietnam will play Timor Leste on November 6. The team is expected to enter the final of the event which will last until November 11.
The AFF Futsal Championship has been divided into two groups. Myanmar is in Group A together with host Indonesia, Malaysia and Cambodia. Group B comprises Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei and Timor Leste.-VNA
