A ceremony to celebrate the 50 th anniversary of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic ties was held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 30.

Attending the event were Le Thanh Hai, Party Politburo member and Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, Pham Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council and Fredesman Gonzalez, Cuba’s Ambassador to Vietnam.

At the ceremony, Thao underlined that over the past three decades, both countries have stood side by side in national construction and defence, adding that bilateral relations which are ceaselessly fostered by the two Parties, States and peoples, have been promoted and expanded in many areas.

With many projects in a number of fields, especially in biotechnology, gene technology and infrastructures, Thao said she hoped that Cuba will work with Ho Chi Minh City in the areas that the city is strong in.

Ambassador Gonzalez said that cooperative ties between the two Parties, governments and nations, especially in economics, trade, investment, culture, education, healthcare and science and technology, have been raised to match the political relationship between both countries./.
