Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse Le Thi Bich Tran, and a high-level Vietnamese delegation returned to Hanoi at noon on November 24, concluding their official visits to Kuwait and Algeria, and their trip to attend the G20 Summit and conduct bilateral activities in South Africa.
During his nine-day working trip, including travel time, PM Chinh maintained a dense and highly productive schedule with around 80 activities. These included meetings and talks with nearly all the top leaders of Kuwait, Algeria, and South Africa; policy speeches; working sessions with government officials and businesses of the host countries; visits to socio-economic establishments in all three nations; and participation in economic forums and business dialogues.
The elevation of relations to Strategic Partnerships between Vietnam and all three countries marks a new chapter in the long-standing and potential ties not only with these nations but also with the broader Middle East and African regions. These are also the first three countries in the Middle East and Africa with which Vietnam has established Strategic Partnerships.
During this trip, Vietnam and the partner countries signed more than ten cooperation agreements across specific sectors; and Vietnamese and foreign enterprises also concluded cooperation deals to promote trade and investment in the coming period. These are the first agreements to materialise the newly established Strategic Partnership framework between Vietnam and the three nations.
At the G20 Summit in South Africa, PM Chinh delivered important remarks in various sessions, putting forward proposals aimed at fostering rapid and sustainable development, as well as peace, friendship, cooperation, and progress worldwide. He also shared with international partners updates on Vietnam’s situation, its development direction, and ongoing efforts.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Prime Minister held meetings with more than 30 leaders of countries and international organisations to discuss and advance bilateral relations. In these meetings, the two sides engaged in direct and substantive discussions on specific issues, programmes, and projects.
Despite an extremely demanding work schedule, the Government leader made time to meet with the Vietnamese communities in all three countries. Notably, he continued to direct domestic affairs, including chairing two online meetings from Algeria and South Africa with officials in Vietnam to oversee efforts to address the severe flooding impacting the central provinces - one of which took place at dawn (local time).
PM Chinh’s working trip to Kuwait, Algeria, and South Africa was a great success. It continued to effectively implement Vietnam’s foreign policy outlined in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; the Politburo’s Resolution No. 34-NQ/TW on major orientations for the implementation of the Party’s foreign policy; the Politburo’s Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW on international integration in the new context; and the Secretariat’s Conclusion No. 125-KL/TW on enhancing and elevating multilateral diplomacy by 2030.
The outcomes of the working trip serve as an important foundation, a driving force, and a source of inspiration, helping ministries, sectors, and localities across the country continue to realise their determination and aspirations for development, and contributing to maximising the mobilisation of international resources in service of the nation’s development goals in the new era./.
Vietnamese PM meets with German, Egyptian, Norwegian counterparts in Johannesburg
PM Chinh affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to its Strategic Partnership with Germany and highly evaluates Germany’s leading role in the European Union. Vietnam welcomes and supports Germany’s active presence in the Asia–Pacific region, contributing to regional peace, stability and sustainable development.
