Prague (VNA) Vo Van Phuong, deputy head of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, has paid a visit to the Czech Republic for experience exchange in developing social welfare policies.

During his stay from September 19 – 20, Phuong had a meeting with Vice Chairwoman of the Czech Chamber of Deputies’ Committee on Social Policy Lucie Safrankova during which the two sides discussed policies for retirees and those on social welfare, women’s rights and housing.

Safrankova shared her views about population decline, population ageing, falling birth rate, labour shortage and gender pay gap. To address these issues, the Czech Government has adopted a number of solutions, such as increasing level of insurance and pension for retired people, raising retirement age, and providing jobs for the retirees, she said.

She also spoke highly of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, saying they are very hard-working, dynamic and friendly who have made great contributions to the local society.

Phuong also visited the Embassy of Vietnam and the Vietnamese association in the Czech Republic to learn about the thoughts and wishes of overseas Vietnamese.

He vowed to work with relevant state agencies to support the Vietnamese community in the European country. –VNA
