Cairo (VNA) – General Director of the Voiceof Vietnam (VOV) Nguyen The Ky has proposed that the agency and the EgyptNational Radio finalise procedures for the signing of a bilateral agreement in broadcasting.

The deal will enable thetwo sides to exchange radio programmes, thus introducing the culture, nationand people of Vietnam and Egyptto each country’s audiences and deepening the mutual understanding of both peoples.

During their meeting in Cairo on December 4, theVOV leader and chairwoman of the Egypt National Radio Nadia Mabrouk agreed to sendreporters to each other for joint production of radio programmes on their culturesand countries.

Ky suggested that the twosides should sign the agreement as soon as possible, while proposing holding a seminarin Hanoi on theoccasion to share experience in broadcasting activities and discuss challengesfacing the sector in the context of information boom.

He introduced the developmentof the VOV during the past 70 years, highly valuing the cooperation with theEgypt National Radio as having boosted bilateral ties between the two countriesin politics, economy, trade, culture and tourism.

For her part, Nadia Mabroukagreed with proposals of her Vietnamese counterpart, adding that thecooperation agreement between the two sides is feasible and practical.

She pledged to direct unitsof the Egypt National Radio to directly contact with those from the VOV to quickenthe process of finalising required procedures for the signing of the deal inthe coming time.

The two sides also agreedthat Vietnam and Egypt are sharing untapped potential of affiliation in variousfields, especially economy, culture and tourism, adding that the cooperationbetween the two radio stations will contribute to strengthening bilateralpartnership between the two countries.-VNA
