Moscow (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine and Moldova Nguyen Anh Tuan has attended activities to celebrate the 28th anniversary of the Independence Day of Moldova in Chisinau.
During a reception, the Vietnamese diplomat met with President of Moldova Igor Dodon and conveyed the congratulations of Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong to the country for its recent achievements.
On the occasion, Ambassador Tuan also met with Moldova’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicolae Popescu.
During the meeting, Tuan expressed his hope that the two countries’ foreign ministries will continue to support each other in the international arena, contributing to the development of each country, for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
The ambassador thanked the government of Moldova for supporting Vietnam’s run for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2020-2021.
Vietnam will make efforts to promote relations between Moldova and ASEAN as Vietnam assumes chairmanship of ASEAN in 2020, he said.
For his part, President Dodon sincerely thanked the Vietnamese people and hoped to welcome General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to visit Moldova in the future.-VNA
