Vietnam-funded financial institute built for Laos

The 114 billion VND (5.35 million USD) Dongkhamxang Institute for Economics and Finance, a gift from the Vietnamese Government, has been handed over to the Lao side.
The 114 billion VND (5.35 million USD) Dongkhamxang Institute for Economics and Finance, a gift from the Vietnamese Government, has been handed over to the Lao side.

The facility, covering a total area of 15 hectares in Vientiane, is able to train more than 2,000 students.

The building, whose construction commenced in June 2012, consists of thematic and multi-functional classrooms, conference halls, a library and a campus for students and teachers.

Addressing an inaugural ceremony on June 26, Vietnamese Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung said the facility is part of the cooperation programme between the two Parties, Governments and Finance Ministries, serving Laos ’ training of personnel for the economics-finance sector.

Lao Finance Minister Liane Thykeo thanked Vietnam for the precious support to the Lao financial sector over the past years.

He pledged that Laos will manage and exploit the facility effectively./.
