A joint statement and a three-year cooperation programme agreement were signed by representatives from the Ministries of Justice from Vietnam and Germany on April 14 in Hanoi.
The documents were part of the Legal Cooperation Programme on Dialogue on the Rule of Law for 2015-2018 on the occasion of the visit to Vietnam by Parliamentary State Secretary in the German Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection Christian Lange.
The joint statement effectively extends a previous agreement on legal and judicial cooperation as signed between the Governments of Vietnam and Germany on February 29, 2008.
The key task of the Programme on Dialogue on the Rule of Law from 2015 through April 2018 is to develop and complete legal frameworks in the fields of criminal and criminal procedures, civil affairs and civil procedures, and economic and commercial affairs, as well as ensure law enforcement.
Other agenda items include building capacity for stakeholders, enhancing awareness of laws in society and expanding the participation of all entities and community members in developing and implementing laws.
The cooperation approaches will include exchanges, training courses, talks, seminars and study tours.
The two sides believe that their cooperation in legal and judicial sectors will serve as an impetus to strengthen their mutual cooperative ties in other key sectors.-VNA
