The Border Guard Force of the central coastal city of Da Nang on Aug. 27 handed over a Filipino fisherman to the Philippine Embassy in Vietnam.
The fisherman, Bochito Lagdamin, 43, from Negros island of the Philippines, was rescued by Vietnamese fishing boat DNa 90258 on July 10, when was in distress at sea in the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago without identity paper.
The boat returned to land on Aug. 12 and the rescued fisherman was taken care of by the Border Guard Station 248 in Da Nang till Aug. 27.
Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, Philippine Counsellor Jose Arcel Donato thanked the Vietnamese side for saving and helping the fisherman.
Bochito Lagdamin will leave Da Nang for Ho Chi Minh City on Aug. 28 and then go to his home country on Aug. 31./.
