Vietnam hastens preparation for 2015 int’l parliamentary assembly

The Steering and Organisation Boards of the 132 nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU –132) convened a plenary session in Hanoi on April 26 to speed up their preparation for the global event slated for March 2015 in the city.

Presiding the event, NationalAssembly (NA) Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, who is also head of theIPU -132 Organisation Board, appreciated efforts by members of the twoboards in implementing assigned duties, especially in completing theprocedure for signing an agreement between the Vietnamese NA and theIPU regarding the preparation for the IPU Assembly, which will gatherlawmakers from around the world.

She also called on relevantagencies to complete preparatory works as soon as possible, in order tofulfill the master plan for preparing and organising the event.

Withregard to financial and logistical work, Phong also urged members ofsubcommittees to swiftly complete necessary preparations andregulations.

She asked the IPU –132 Sub-Secretariat and relevantsub-committees to build training content for the NA’s delegation, theirmembers, volunteers and press agencies ahead of the event.

Agenciesin charge of information and communication at the event were alsorequired to swiftly update information on the IPU’s official website inline a signed agreement.-VNA
