Vietnam, Laos consolidate traditional relationship

Participants included Bolikhamsay Governor Pannoi Mani, Secretary ofthe Laos People’s Revolutionary Youth Union and Vice President of theLaos-Vietnam Friendship Association Vilayvong Bouddakham, and theVietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Manh Hung, along with officialsfrom other departments, the armed forces and provincial authorities.

Speaking at the meeting, Pannoi Mani said theconference aimed to celebrate Vietnam’s 69 th National Day and the 52nd anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. He alsoexpressed the Lao people’s gratitude for Vietnam's immense, efficientsupport for their revolution.

Ambassador Hungthanked Laos for organising this important event. He stressed thatVietnam and Laos have consistently enjoyed a special relationship, firstestablished by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Kaysone Phomvihane, andupheld by the leaders and people of the two nations.

Hung affirmed the Party and Government of Vietnam continuouslyfollowed Laos’s achievements in nation-building, adding that he hopedthe two sides would promote their close cooperation and enhance theirspecial ties.

Cooperation between the twocountries has been deepened in a number of fields, including politics,national defence, security, and education. As part of the countries’economic cooperation, Vietnam has invested in over 400 projects worthmore than 5 billion USD.-VNA

Vietnamese, Lao foreign ministers hold online talks

The two ministers agreed to maintain close coordination in the time ahead and to expand cooperation under the new framework and orientation, underscoring the significance of the two countries’ “great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, strategic cohesion”.
