Vietnam, Laos trade unions boost cooperation

At the talks, the two sides informed each other about the socio-economic situation, worker movement and activities of trade unions in both countries.

They stressed that the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos became the motivator for promoting worker movement and activities of trade unions in the two countries.

President Tung asserted the determination to maintain the traditional friendship and special solidarity between the trade unions of the two countries.

This year, apart from organising the activities agreed by the two sides in their cooperation agreement for the 2008-2012 period, VGCL also plans to carry out other activities to respond to the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2012, Tung said.

Khamla Lolonsy said he believes that his delegation’s current visit to Vietnam will mark an important step forward in the ties between the two trade unions, contributing to further fostering the traditional friendship and special solidarity between the two countries.

He also highlighted support provided by the Vietnamese trade union to their Lao counterpart in many fields such as technical assistance, personnel training and international cooperation.

Khamla Lolonsy expressed his hope that bilateral cooperation between the Vietnamese and Lao trade unions will continue to be promoted in the future.

On the occasion, VGCL awarded the Friendship Order of the Vietnamese State to Khamla Lolonsy for his great contributions to strengthening and developing the Vietnam-Laos friendship and cooperation.-VNA
