About 133 million VND raised from a campaign by theSouth African Embassy in Vietnam was used to buy equipment forfunctional rehabilitation for disabled children at Thuy AnRehabilitation Centre for Handicapped Children.

South African Ambassador to Vietnam Ratubatsi Super Moloi said that inNovember 2009, the UN declared July 18 as Nelson Mandela InternationalDay with the theme “Take action. Inspire change. Make every day aMandela Day” to recognise the contributions of the former South AfricanPresident, who devoted 67 years of his life to the cause of freedom andstruggle for justice.

On the occasion of NelsonMandela’s 94th birthday (July 18), this year’s day calls on individualsand organisations to spend 94 minutes to give a hand to disadvantagedchildren.

The ambassador affirmed that the annualcelebration aims to gather the solidarity of international community inmaintaining the value of freedom and justice which the late President ofSouth Africa struggled for.-VNA
