Vietnam News Agency tightens ties with Cuban partner

Hanoi (VNA) – General Director of Vietnam News Agency Vu Viet Trang visited theheadquarters of Cuban News Agency (ACN) and held talks with ACN DirectorGeneral Edda Diz Garcés on April 20 (Cuba time).

During the talks, two sides reviewed theirbilateral cooperation and highlighted the importance of reliable informationsources in the context of rampant fake news.       

Theyreiterated the wish to further intensify the traditional cooperation betweenthe two State news agencies through information exchange and technical support,in line with the modern trend of journalism.

TheVNA Director General noted that ACN’s true and reliable information is a veryimportant source of reference for the VNA. She appreciated the exchange of textnews and photos between the two sides and voiced her hope to expand thecooperation once ACN develops video news.  

TheACN Director General thanked the VNA for the practical assistance over the pasttime, saying that the equipment provided by the VNA has been very useful for ACN.She hoped for stronger bilateral cooperation, stressing that the ties between ACNand VNA are between not only colleagues but also comrades sharing an ideal./.

Xuyen Viet Oil case: Appellate verdict announced, with six receiving reduced sentences

Specifically, the trial panel sentenced the mastermind of the case, Mai Thi Hong Hanh, ex-Director and Chairwoman of the Board of Members of Xuyen Viet Oil, to 11 years in prison for the crime of “giving bribes” and 17 years for “violating regulations on the management and use of State assets, causing loss and wastefulness.” The combined sentence is 28 years in prison, 2 years less than the first-instance verdict.

Khanh Hoa tightens control of fishing vessels at sea ports

As many as 99.7% of Khanh Hoa's fishing vessels over 15 metres in length – 631 out of 633 – have now been equipped with VMS devices.
