Vietnam, Philippine navies meet on Song Tu Tay Island

Naval soldiers stationed on Vietnam ’s Song Tu Tay (Southwest Cay) Island on June 8 welcomed a visiting delegation of their Philippine counterparts from Song Tu Dong (Northeast Cay) Island to build trust and promote cooperation.
Naval soldiers stationed on Vietnam ’s Song Tu Tay (Southwest Cay) Island on June 8 welcomed a visiting delegation of their Philippine counterparts from Song Tu Dong (Northeast Cay) Island to build trust and promote cooperation.

The one-day exchange attracted 40 representatives from each country. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Captain Le Xuan Thuy, Deputy Commander of the Naval Zone 4, and the Philippine delegation was headed by Captain Carlito M Barizo, Deputy Commander of the Naval Forces West under the Philippine Navy.

During the interaction, the two sides discussed and shared information about search and rescue, maritime security and natural disaster warnings on the two islands. They also prepared content for their next exchange, which will be held on Northeast Cay Island next year.

The two delegations also joined art performances and sports activities, including football, volleyball and tug of war.

The guests visited some places on Song Tu Tay Island, including the Statue of General Tran Hung Dao, the light house, meteorology station and Song Tu Tay pagoda.-VNA
