Hanoi (VNA) – As part of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's freshly-ended official visit to Poland, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang and Secretary of State at the Polish Foreign Affairs Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral diplomatic relations.
Replacing a prior agreement inked in 2010, the new MoU aims to broaden the scope of cooperation between the two foreign ministries over the next five years. Under its framework, both sides agreed to conduct regular political consultations at various levels to discuss bilateral issues, including foreign and security policy, economic diplomacy, trade and economic relations, culture, science, education, sustainable development, regional and international issues of shared interest.
The two signatories plan to carry out policy planning dialogue sessions at least once every two years. Such dialogue shall serve in particular as a forum for discussing foreign policy and security issues from a strategic perspective, including long-term regional and global matters. The participants will encourage and support exchanges of think tanks and experts on geopolitical and strategic issues, as complementary to official policy planning exchanges, wrote the MoU.
The pact also highlights the two sides’ commitment to strengthening cooperation at multilateral forums and international organisations for a more stable, prosperous and sustainable world and, where appropriate, exploring exchanges of support for their candidacies for international organisations.
Both sides agreed to use the tools of public and cultural diplomacy and the commemoration of important occasions and anniversaries of bilateral diplomatic cooperation, in order to strengthen mutual understanding between the two nations and deepen bilateral cooperation.
The participants are set to exchange information on matters relevant to the implementation of the agreements between the two countries as a channel to strengthen the legal framework for mutually beneficial cooperation./.
