Vietnam promotes business links with Algeria

Alger (VNA) – Vietnam’s Ambassador to Algeria Pham Quoc Tru said that Vietnam wantsto boost economic and trade links with Algeria in general and Oran city inparticular, in his working trip to Oran from November 28-30.

During his trip,the Ambassador met representatives of around 30 local enterprises operating in import-export,farm produce processing and construction to introduce to them potential tradeand investment opportunities in Vietnam.

He affirmed Vietnam’spolicy to boost trade exchanges with all countries in the world, includingAfrican countries, on the win-win basis.

Tru stressedthat Vietnam-Algeria economic cooperation prospect is optimistic. ManyVietnamese goods have become familiar with Algerian customers while Algeriangoods began to appear in Vietnam.

At a meetingwith Oran governor Zaafen Abdelghani, the ambassador asked Oran government tocreate favourable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to do business the city.

He also proposedthat Oran administration designate a suitable location to install a statue ofPresident Ho Chi Minh and soon form a sister relationship with a Vietnamesecity to further develop the relationship between the two countries.

ZaafenAbdelghani agreed with recommendations from the Vietnamese side and highlyappreciated the relationship between the two countries.

He said he hopedVietnamese enterprises will come to seek business opportunities in Oran intourism, agriculture, construction, service, machinery and petrochemical.

Vietnam-Algeriatrade value reached 235 million USD in 2015 and 140.23 million USD in the firsthalf of 2016.

Vietnam exportscoffee, phones and phone parts, steel and pepper to Algeria and imported animalfeed, medicine, and natural mineral from the northern African country.

In terms ofinvestment, the Bir-Seba gas and oil joint venture between PetroVietnam,Sonatrach (Algeria) and PTT (Thailand) went into operation in 2015, producing18,000 barrels each day.-VNA
