Hanoi (VNA) – A flight transporting 500,000 doses of Vero-Cell vaccine against COVID-19produced by Sinopharm arrived in Noi Bai airport in Hanoi on June 20.

The PartyCentral Committee’s Commission for External Relations, the Foreign Ministry andthe Health Ministry, in coordination with the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, receivedthe vaccine along with 502,400 disposable 1-ml syringes on June 20 afternoon.

The Vero Cell vaccine is planned to be used to vaccinate Chinesecitizens working in Vietnam, Vietnamese who want to go to China for study, workor business, and people who have needs for vaccine, particularly those livingin areas bordering China.

The Vero-Cell vaccine was approved for emergency use onJune 3./.

According to the municipal Department of Health, as of July 20, a total of 732,873 residents had undergone periodic check-ups and had electronic health records established. The figure reflects encouraging initial results from the citywide campaign launched by the department and underscores local authorities' commitment to implementing one of the largest community healthcare programmes ever undertaken in the southern metropolis.
