Spokesperson Nguyen Phuong Nga made the statement in reply to areporter’s query relating to the Human Rights Watch’s allegations thatVietnam increased oppression over dissidents and the people’s rightsto freedom of speech in its annual report released on Jan. 24.
Shestated that in Vietnam , the citizens’ rights to freedom anddemocracy, including the right to freedom of information, the right tofreedom of expression and speech, and the right to freedom of religionand belief and non-religion and non-belief, have been stated clearly inthe Constitution and laws, and the exercise of these rights is ensuredin reality.
Like any other country around the world, to ensurerules and laws of a law-governed state, any legal violation in Vietnamare handled in line with the law, Nga underlined./.
