Vietnam reports additional 14,835 COVID-19 cases

Vietnam recorded 14,835 new COVID-19 infections, including 13 imported cases, in the past 24 hours to 16:00 on January 1, said the Ministry of Health.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam recorded 14,835 new COVID-19 infections, including 13imported cases, in the past 24 hours to 16:00 on January 1, said the Ministry ofHealth.

The capitalcity of Hanoi logged the highest number of infections, with 1,748. It wasfollowed by Vinh Long province with 1,223 cases and Tay Ninh province, with 947 infections.

The new infectionsbrought the country’s total caseload to 1,746,092, including 20 Omicron variantcases.

As many as2,990 patients were declared to be from coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 on the day, raisingthe total of recoveries to 1,358,276.

Meanwhile, thedeath toll rose to 32,610 after 216 fatalities were reported on the first day of2022.

More than152.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered, including 77.6million first shots, 68.8 million second jabs and 5.7 third injections./.
