Vietnam, RoK hold defence policy dialogue

The 8th defence policy dialogue at deputy ministerial level between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea was held in Seoul on June 20 under the co-chair of Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh and his RoK counterpart Park Jae-min.

Seoul (VNA) – The 8th defence policydialogue at deputy ministerial level between Vietnam and the Republic of Koreawas held in Seoul on June 20 under the co-chair of Deputy Defence Minister NguyenChi Vinh and his RoK counterpart Park Jae-min.

At the event, the two sides exchanged views on the globaland regional security situations and international issues of common concern. 

They shared the satisfaction at the bilateral defencecooperation in the recent past, and agreed to build on the outcomes, with afocus on mutual high-level visits, defence industry, settlement of warconsequences, maritime security and United Nations peacekeeping activities.

The deputy ministers agreed to promote joint work on severalnew aspects, such as cyber security, cultural and art exchange, and military andhigh-performance sports.

The two sides reached consensus on enhancing informationexchange, consultation and coordination at multilateral forums such as the ASEANDefence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+), ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), East AsiaForum (EAF), Shangri La, Seoul Dialogue and ASEAN-RoK deputy defence ministers’meeting.

Vietnam reiterated its support of the RoK’s responsibleparticipation in multilateral security mechanisms, thus contributing to peace,stability and development in the region and the world.

The RoK pledged support for Vietnam in preparing for andorganising defence-security events in 2020 when the country serves as Chair ofthe Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

During the five-day trip to the RoK for the defence policydialogue, Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh paid a courtesy visit to theRoK Defence Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo, during which he extended to the host aninvitation to visit Vietnam from Vietnamese Defence Minister Ngo Xuan Lich.

Vinh also met with the head of the Defense AcquisitionProgram Administration (DAPA) and the President of the Korea InternationalCooperation Agency (KOICA), and visited a peacekeeping training facility.-VNA

Vietnam, China fortify judicial cooperation

Revised law on organisation of Government set to be adopted on Feb.18

The draft law clarifies the cabinet's duties along several key dimensions such as submitting fundamental and critical matters to the NA for decision, presenting issues within the NA Standing Committee's jurisdiction for resolution, proposing amnesty decisions to the President in accordance with the regulations, and executing responsibilities within the Government's authority.
