Vietnam, Russia enhance cooperation in ethnic affairs

During their June 26-27 stay in Moscow , the Vietnamese delegationhad working sessions with the Russia State Duma committees for ethnicaffairs and regional policy and the Russia Federal Council’s advisorycouncil for ethnic affairs.

Both sides sharedexperience in legislation and social management in the field as well asdiscussed ways for future cooperation development.

They noted with pleasure that bilateral relations between Vietnam andRussia have incessantly been nurtured and cemented over the pasttime on the ground of their comprehensive strategic partnership.

The Vietnamese official highlighted the Party and State’s consistentpolicy on ethnic affairs, affirming that the country always givesspecial heed to promoting the national great unity, particularly amongethnic minority people, in an effort to keep their cultures, religionsand languages alive.

The Russian representativesstressed that more than 100 nationalities in Russia hope to deepen theirtraditional friendship with Vietnamese ethnic groups and increasecooperation and experience sharing to better policies for the twocountries’ ethnic minority people.

Ksor Phuoc alsobriefed his hosts about the recent developments in the East Seaafter China illegally placed its oil rig in Vietnam ’s exclusiveeconomic zone and continental shelf in early May.

Hesaid he hopes that the Russian deputies, through global cooperationchannels, will take an active part in settling the issue peacefully inrespect for international law.-VNA
