Vietnam shares experience in ensuring workers’ rights

Vietnam shared its experience in ensuring the rights of labourers and emphasised the significance of better caring for them as well as the creation of sustainable employment, at an event jointly held by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the Group of Friends of Decent Work for Sustainable Development in New York on October 20.

New York (VNA) – Vietnam shared its experience inensuring the rights of labourers and emphasised the significance of bettercaring for them as well as the creation of sustainable employment, at an eventjointly held by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the Group ofFriends of Decent Work for Sustainable Development in New York on October 20.

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Tra, Chargé d'affaires of theVietnamese Delegation to the United Nations (UN), underscored the important roleof harmonising national legislation with international labour standards.

The diplomat said she believes that suitable harmonisation will help improve working conditions, protect workers' rights, andpromote effective economic cooperation among countries.

Ambassador Tra highlighted progress Vietnam has made in the field,including the joining of more ILO conventions and the adoption of the revisedLabour Code in 2019 with many new contents matching international labourstandards.

She also clarified advantages and challenges Vietnamhas seen since joining ILO conventions.

The Vietnamese representative welcomed the opportunity toshare with and learn from experience from different regions and countries, andaffirmed that Vietnam will continue to cooperate with the ILO, other countriesand stakeholders in promoting workers' rights./.

Breeding cows presented to poor households along Vietnam–Cambodia border

Accordingly, leaders of the Border Guard High Command and Tay Ninh province of Vietnam, and Svay Teap district in Svay Rieng province of Cambodia presented 20 breeding cows, valued at 20 million VND (760 USD) each, to 20 households - 10 in Long Thuan commune (Tay Ninh) and 10 in Monorom commune of Svay Teap district.

Russian October Revolution opens a window into Vietnam
