Vietnam, Thailand hold first security dialogue

Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and the Royal Thai Police held the first high-level dialogue on security issues in Bangkok on December 20.

Bangkok (VNA) – Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and theRoyal Thai Police held the first high-level dialogue on security issues inBangkok on December 20.

Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police General Chakthip Chaijinda saidthe dialogue marked an important milestone accelerating the partnership betweenthe two countries in preventing and combating crimes.

Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General To Lam spoke highly ofthe Thai Royal Police’s hosting of the first high-level security dialogue.

The officials agreed that agreements signed between the two countries have facilitatedand deepened the cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Securityand the Royal Thai Police, especially in personnel training and experiencesharing.  

Collaboration via Interpol has enabled the two sides to exchange and verifyinformation related to wanted criminals, trans-national crime rings, and drugtrafficking, they said.

They said they will continue maintaining visits and contacts with a view tofurther promoting mutual understanding, information exchange and experiencesharing in fields of shared interest.

At the event, the two sides also discussed regional and internationalsituations of mutual concern and sought to deter trans-national, drug andenvironmental crimes.

This high-leveldialogue will be held alternately on an annual basis, they said.

Minister To Lam and Commissioner-General Chakthip Chaijinda signed the minutesand co-chaired a press conference afterward.

On the day, Minister To Lam and his entourage met with Secretary General of theThai National Security Council, General Thawip Netniyom.-VNA

K’Ho ethnic minority group in Lam Dong province looks forward to Election Day

Lac Duong commune is a remote locality largely inhabited by the K’Ho ethnic minority in Lam Dong. Hanoi customs seize suspected gold smuggled by four passengers at Noi Bai airport

The inspection revealed that passenger P.T.H. had concealed 10 pieces of the metal, weighing about 5 kg, inside her bra and underwear. Passenger V.T.M. hid five pieces totalking roughly 1.1 kg beneath underwear. Passenger N.V.L. concealed nine pieces amounting to around 3.5 kg, while passenger C.S.M.H. hid seven pieces weighing some 2.7 kg under underwear and on the wrist.
