National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung arrived in Phnom Penh on June 10 to pay tribute to late President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and President of the Senate Chea Sim.

He was accompanied by Chairman of the NA Committee for External Affairs Tran Van Hang, Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc, Vice Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan, Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Bui Quang Ben.

Senior officials from Vietnamese ministries, departments, and sectors along with representatives from the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association also participated in the Vietnamese delegation to pay tribute to the deceased at his residence.

The top Vietnamese legislator expressed his deep condolences over the death of Chea Sim, writing in the funeral book that Vietnam lost a close and sincere friend who had made significant contributions to cementing and developing the traditional solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries’ Parties, States and peoples.

Earlier, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan offered their heartfelt sympathies to Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, the CPP’s Central Committee, the Cambodian National Assembly, the Royal Government of Cambodia and the National Council of Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia.-VNA
