Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh told New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam WendyMatthews at a meeting in Hanoi on April 23.
The relations between Vietnam and New Zealand havecontinuously thrived over the past time based on the bilateral comprehensivepartnership, Vinh said, adding that the two countries are looking toward to thestrategic partnership.
He suggested the two sides develop cooperationin defence in a more pragmatic manner, focusing on education-training anddefence industry.
Relevant agencies and units of Vietnam’sMinistry of National Defence are willing to exchange with the New Zealand counterpartsto seek measures to expand the bilateral collaboration in the field, he said.
For her part, Matthews described defencecooperation as an important pillar in the relations between Vietnam and NewZealand.
She pledged to do her utmost to further deepenthe two countries’ defence partnership.-VNA
