Vietnam wins bronzes at int’l Maths Olympiad

All six members of the Vietnamese team won bronzes at the 52 nd International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) held in the Netherlands.

The Department of Examinations and Education Quality Assessment saidon July 23 that with this performance, Vietnam ranked 31 st out of the90 participating delegations. China came in first, followed by the USand Singapore.

So far, four out of five VietnameseOlympiad teams have bagged 18 medals and one certificate of merit,including one gold in physics, four silvers in physics and chemistry,and 13 bronzes.

The Informatics Olympiad team will take part in the final competition on July 29.

The 53 rd IMO is scheduled to take place in Argentina in 2012./.

The Government is recommending public employers arrange their working schedules to swap out working on Saturday, April 26, for the day off on May 2.In early April, workers in Vietnam will also enjoy a day off for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day (the 10th day of the third lunar month), which falls on April 7 (Monday).
