Hanoi (VNA) – All five Vietnamese students have won medals, including two golds, at the 49th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2018) held in Portugal from July 21 to 29 with the participation of 86 countries and territories.

The Department of Quality Management under the Ministry of Education and Training revealed on July 29 that the Vietnamese students attending the competition also grabbed two silver and one bronze medals.

The gold medal winners are Nguyen Ngoc Long and Tran Duc Huy, 12th graders from Lam Son High School for Gifted Students in Thanh Hoa province and Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students, respectively.

Nguyen Xuan Tan from High School for Gifted Students, Hanoi University of Science, Vietnam National University and Trinh Duy Hieu of High School for Gifted Student in Bac Giang province won the silver medal. Both are 12th graders.

Nguyen Van Thanh Loi from Quang Trung High School for Gifted Students in Binh Phuoc province pocketed a bronze medal.

At the 48th International Physics Olympiad in Indonesia, Vietnamese students took four gold and one silver medal.

The students are scheduled to return to Vietnam in the morning of July 30.-VNA
