Bangkok (VNA) – Vietnamese athletes secured two gold medals at the sixth Asian Junior U20 Kurash Championships, which took place in Pattaya, Thailand from June 17 to 21.
Do Thu Ha triumphed in the women’s 48kg event, while Nguyen Thi Ngoc Nhung clinched another gold in the women’s 63 kg category.
Nhung was also named the most outstanding female athlete and Vietnam’s female delegation was ranked second at the tournament.
The Vietnamese martial artists also brought home two silver and four bronze medals. A total of 11 Vietnamese athletes competed at the event.
The sixth Asian Junior U20 Kurash Championships drew the participation of 120 athletes of 11 countries and territories.
It offered a chance for Vietnamese athletes to prepare for the 30th Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines later this year and evaluate their rivals at the upcoming game.-VNA
