Vietnamese airlines see growth in int’l routes

In the past six months, Vietnamese airlines have operated nearly 160 international routes connecting Vietnam with countries worldwide, according to a report from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam. The international route network has been restored to pre-COVID-19 levels and continues to expand into new markets in Central Asia, India, Australia, and more.

In the first six months of this year, the total passenger market reached over 37 million passengers, an increase of more than 3% compared to the same period in 2023 and equivalent to 97% of the same period in 2019. The total passenger volume through airports reached over 54 million, also equivalent to 97% compared to the same period in 2023.

Of this, domestic passengers accounted for over 34 million, while international passengers reached over 20 million, a 38% increase from the same period in 2023. The seat occupancy rate on domestic flights remained above 80%, and on international flights, it was above 70%.

The output of goods through the airports reached more than 721,000 tonnes in the first six months, up 26% year-on-year. More than 228,000 tonnes of domestic goods passed through the airports and 492,000 tonnes of international goods./.
