
Sydney (VNA) – Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Australia recentlyraised 18,000 AUD for the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund and the “For beloved HoangSa-Truong Sa” (Vi Hoang Sa-Truong Sa than yeu) Club.
The fundraising took place in a meeting in Canberra between Vietnamese expats,representatives from Vietnamese agencies in Australia and a delegation led byformer Vice President Truong My Hoa, who is head of the fund and club.
At the event, Hoa briefed the OVs about challenges faced by ethnic minoritygroups, fishermen and soldiers in coastal areas.
She also highlighted the fund’s activities, which support the education ofethnic minority students and develop human resources in poor and remote areas, andthe club, which aims to help children of soldiers and residents in coastalareas and islands.
The meeting urged the OVs to join national efforts to protect the sea andisland sovereignty and to support the needy in their homeland.
Before the meeting in Canberra, Hoa met with the Vietnamese Consulate Generalin Sydney and Perth, and with Vietnamese expatriates and students in Brisbaneand Adelaide.
She also presented certificates of merit for organisations and individuals fortheir excellent contributions to the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund and the “Forbeloved Hoang Sa-Truong Sa” Club.-VNA
