Hiromi Pham, a Vietnamese-Japanese semiprofessional model, beat nine other contestants to win the “Miss Vietnam in Japan” title in Kanagawa prefecture, south of Tokyo, on January 28.
The 22-year-old was born in Japan and is working for a sports club in the country.
Hiromi Pham said after the contest that she will try to learn Vietnamese to be able to communicate with Vietnamese friends as well as have a better understanding of the fatherland.
Second prize went to Duong Thi Thuy, who was born in 1987 and is working for car maker Nissan.
Besides the two major prizes, other outstanding candidates were also presented with titles of “Miss Elegant”, “Miss Beautiful Face”, and “Miss Photogenic”.
The head of the organising board, Tong Thi Kim Giao said that the event aims to improve cultural life and strengthen solidarity within the Overseas Vietnamese community in Japan .
Organised by Motiti Trading in Yokohama city, the contest attracted the participation of Vietnamese candidates aged 16-26 living, studying and working in Japan./.
