Two more Vietnamese and Lao border villages have established twin ties,aiming at better assisting each other in defending security in theshared border and improving their socio-economic development.
They are Duc Lang village in Dak Long commune, Dak Glei district inthe Central Highlands province of Kon Tum (Vietnam) and Thong Kay Oochamlet in Sanxay district of Attapeu province (Laos).
Following a signing ceremony held in the Vietnamese village of DucLang on July 12, the heads and residents of the twined villages agreedon a series of measures.
Among them, they agreed tomaintain the status quo of the two countries’ common borderline runningthrough their localities as well as landmarks and signals planted in theborder belt.
They vowed to seriously comply withregulations on cross-border traffic and not to till land and illegallyexploit natural resources in the other side.
Environmental protection at the common border area was also agreed by the two villages.
Earlier on June 26, Dak Ung village in Dak Nhoong commune, Dak Gleidistrict, Kon Tum province and Brong Noi village in Dak Chung districtin the province of Sekong (Laos) were twined.-VNA
