Vietnamese, Lao Parties bolster mutual understanding

Hoang Binh Quan, who ismember of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV),Director of the Central External Relations Commission and Special Envoyof Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, informed the host aboutthe results of the CPV’s 11 th National Congress.

He affirmedthat documents, which were passed at the congress, were the profoundreview of all theoretical and practical issues of socialism building andnational defence of Vietnam during 25 years of implementing thenational renewal; 20 years carrying out the CPV 1991 Political Platform;10 years implementing the 2001-2010 socio-economic development strategyand five years implementing the resolution of the 10 th NationalParty Congress.

He stated that the Vietnamese Party, State andpeople will always exert their best efforts to continue boosting thetraditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperationwith the Lao Party, State and people.

Quan took this occasion toconvey an invitation to visit Vietnam to General SecretaryChoummaly Sayasone from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

GeneralSecretary Choummaly Sayasone, who is also State President of Laos,described Quan’s visit to inform Lao leaders on the CPV’s nationalcongress as a manifestation of the trust and close ties between the twoParties. He congratulated and praised great achievements of Vietnamin national construction and defence, which helped constantly improvethe country’s position in the region and the world.

He informedthe Vietnamese Party official about Laos ’ preparations for itsup-coming 9 th Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.

Heaffirmed that the Lao Party, State and people attach importance toboosting relations between the two countries for the benefits of bothsides and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in theregion and the world.

He invited General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to visit Laos .

Thesame day, Quan had talks with Thongloun Sisoulith, Party Politburomember, Deputy Prime Minister, Director of the LPRP’s Central ExternalRelations Commission and Foreign Minister of Laos./.

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

President Cuong warmly welcomed King Philippe and a high-ranking delegation of the Kingdom of Belgium on their first state visit to Vietnam since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1973, affirming that the trip is an important historical milestone, opening up a new page for the friendly relations between the two countries.
